1930 – St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Chick Hafey hit for the cycle and drove in five runs during a 16-6 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.

1947 – The first Little League World Series was held in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The Maynard Midgets of Williamsport emerged as the champions.

1972 – Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Steve Carlton had his 15-game winning streak broken when the Atlanta Braves, led by Phil Niekro, defeated the Phillies 2-1 in 11 innings.

1975 – Rick and Paul Reuschel of the Chicago Cubs combined to throw a 7-0 shutout against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Rick pitched 6⅓ innings, and Paul completed the game. This marked the first shutout thrown by two brothers in Major League Baseball history.

2007 – Garret Anderson of the Los Angeles Angels drove in a team-record 10 runs in an 18-9 win over the New York Yankees. Anderson’s performance included a grand slam, a three-run homer, a two-run double, and an RBI double, making him the 12th player in MLB history with 10 RBIs in a game.

2007 – Mark Reynolds of the Arizona Diamondbacks tied the MLB record for consecutive strikeouts by a non-pitcher with his ninth straight strikeout in a 7-4 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. Reynolds struck out in his first two at-bats against Dave Bush before being hit by a pitch in the sixth inning, ending the streak.

2011 – Johnny Damon had a grand slam overturned by a video review in the seventh inning but later hit a game-ending home run in the ninth to give the Tampa Bay Rays an 8-7 victory over the Seattle Mariners. Damon’s ninth-inning home run came on the first pitch from Dan Cortes.

2015 – Mike Fiers of the Houston Astros pitched a no-hitter in a 3-0 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Fiers, who had never thrown a complete game before, struck out 10 and walked three, retiring the final 21 batters. He struck out Justin Turner on his 134th pitch to complete the no-hitter.
