Stephen Curry’s gold medal performance over the weekend has led McDonald’s France to rethink one of its popular sauces.
The fast-food chain humorously suggested on social media that it might remove its classic curry sauce in light of Curry’s impressive game against France in the Olympics. The post on Instagram, translated from French, read: “For obvious reasons, we are considering removing this sauce.” It was captioned, “For 4 years minimum.”
The move comes after Curry delivered a standout performance, scoring 24 points and hitting four three-pointers in the final three minutes of the game. His decisive three-pointer with 33 seconds left secured the gold medal for the United States and left French fans disappointed.
This year’s Olympics marked the second consecutive summer games where the United States and France faced off in the gold medal game.
Steve Kerr, head coach of Team USA and the Golden State Warriors, praised Curry’s performance, stating, “I’ve seen that from Steph a few times, but it never gets old.” Kerr highlighted the pressure on the team, saying, “We might be the only team in the world whose fans are ashamed of them if they get a silver medal, and that’s the pressure we face. But our players — and you saw Steph — they love the pressure. They appreciate this atmosphere, and they were fantastic.”
Curry spoke about his focus during the game, telling reporters, “All I saw was the rim. I didn’t see who was in front of me. I knew it was kind of a late clock situation, but that one impressed myself,” referring to his crucial shot with 33 seconds remaining.
