Royals 6, White Sox 1

Brady Singer threw seven scoreless innings, leading the Kansas City Royals to a 6-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox. Bobby Witt Jr. went 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Royals. Andrew Benintendi drove in Chicago’s only run.

Diamondbacks 3, Cubs 0

Alek Thomas and Corbin Carroll each homered during a three-run third inning as the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Chicago Cubs 3-0. Zac Gallen (7-5) pitched five shutout innings for the Diamondbacks. Kyle Hendricks (2-8) took the loss for the Cubs.

Sonny Gray earned his first career win over Atlanta, pitching seven innings as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Braves 9-5 in the second game of a doubleheader. Alec Burleson drove in three runs for the Cardinals. Bryce Elder (1-4) took the loss for Atlanta.

Rockies 4, Giants 3

Ezequiel Tovar homered, and Kyle Freeland tossed six solid innings as the Colorado Rockies beat the San Francisco Giants 4-3. Tyler Fitzgerald homered for San Francisco.

Astros 4, Mariners 2

Jake Meyers hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in the seventh inning as the Houston Astros took a one-game lead in the AL West with a 4-2 win over the Seattle Mariners. Yainer Diaz also homered for the Astros. Framber Valdez allowed two runs over 5 2/3 innings, and Josh Hader got his 20th save. Julio Rodriguez homered for the Mariners, who have lost five straight games.
