Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez announced on social media Tuesday that he will participate in the Home Run Derby. The event is scheduled for July 15 in Arlington, Texas, just one day before the All-Star Game.
Ramirez, 31, is set to make his fourth consecutive All-Star appearance and his sixth overall on July 16. This marks his return to the Home Run Derby after competing in 2022, where he was hindered by a thumb injury and was eliminated by Juan Soto in the first round.
A four-time Silver Slugger recipient, Ramirez has been a standout performer this season, entering Tuesday with 23 home runs, 76 RBIs, and a .269 batting average across 86 games. Throughout his 12-season career with the Guardians, he has amassed a .278 batting average, 239 home runs, and 822 RBIs over 1,379 games.
Joining Ramirez in this year’s Home Run Derby are Alec Bohm of the Philadelphia Phillies, Gunnar Henderson of the Baltimore Orioles, Bobby Witt Jr. of the Kansas City Royals, Marcell Ozuna of the Atlanta Braves, and two-time winner Pete Alonso of the New York Mets.
