The Golden State Warriors have finalized a sign-and-trade agreement with the Minnesota Timberwolves to acquire forward Kyle Anderson, as reported on Tuesday. Anderson, 30, will join the Warriors on a three-year, $27 million contract, with Golden State also sending cash considerations and a future second-round pick swap to Minnesota.
This transaction follows the Warriors’ recent sign-and-trade deal involving guard Klay Thompson, which created a financial trade exception utilized in acquiring Anderson.
Anderson brings a decade of NBA experience, having played for the San Antonio Spurs (2014-2018), Memphis Grizzlies (2018-2022), and most recently, the Timberwolves. His standout season came in 2020-2021 with Memphis, where he averaged 12.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game, earning recognition in Most Improved Player voting.
Last season with Minnesota, Anderson contributed 6.4 points, 4.2 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game across 79 appearances. Throughout his career, spanning 653 games with 304 starts, he holds averages of 6.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game.
In addition to Anderson, the Warriors bolstered their roster by signing former Philadelphia 76ers shooting guard De’Anthony Melton to a one-year, $12.8 million free-agent contract, reinforcing their lineup ahead of the upcoming season.
