In a FIFA evaluation report released on Tuesday, Brazil’s bid to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup surpassed its rival bid from Belgium, Netherlands, and Germany. The report comes ahead of the final decision at the 74th FIFA Congress in Bangkok on May 17.
The evaluation report, conducted by FIFA’s Bid Evaluation Task Force, assigned Brazil’s bid the highest overall average score of 4.0 out of 5, while the joint bid from Belgium, Netherlands, and Germany (BNG) received a score of 3.7.
Both bids were deemed to exceed the minimum requirements for hosting the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027, qualifying them for consideration by the FIFA Council and the FIFA Congress.
FIFA highlighted Brazil’s strong stadiums, citing the country’s successful hosting of the 2021 World Cup. Additionally, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) and the Brazilian government have demonstrated robust support and commitment to hosting the event.
If successful, Brazil’s bid would mark the first time South America hosts the Women’s World Cup. The final decision on the host nation(s) will be determined through a vote during the upcoming FIFA Congress.
