Jessica Pegula, ranked fifth in the world, expressed uncertainty about her participation in the upcoming French Open despite feeling improved after recovering from an injury setback that disrupted her claycourt season.
The 30-year-old American, known for her consistency on the WTA Tour last season with a victory at the Montreal event ahead of the U.S. Open, has encountered challenges this year due to illness and injuries.
After withdrawing from tournaments in Stuttgart and Madrid, Pegula confirmed her absence from Rome this week and indicated a potential miss for Roland Garros (French Open).
In an Instagram update, Pegula shared, “Hi guys – quick update – will miss Rome and possibly RG. I actually feel really good but have to work back into training at a snail’s pace.”
While Pegula did not specify the nature of her latest injury, her focus remains on a gradual return to training following her recovery.
The tennis community awaits further updates on Pegula’s health and her decision regarding the French Open, which commences on May 26.
