The Jacksonville Jaguars have officially exercised the fifth-year options for quarterback Trevor Lawrence and running back Travis Etienne, confirming the expected decisions for their 2021 first-round draft picks.
General manager Trent Baalke announced the moves on Saturday, solidifying the future for Lawrence and Etienne. Lawrence, selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 draft, will be guaranteed $25.7 million for the 2025 season. Meanwhile, Etienne, taken with the 25th pick in the same draft, will earn $6.1 million on his option.
Lawrence, 24, earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2022 and has compiled a 20-30 record as a starter over three seasons. He has passed for 11,770 yards with 58 touchdowns and 39 interceptions, adding 964 rushing yards and 11 scores on the ground.
Etienne, 25, overcame a foot injury that sidelined him for his rookie season in 2021. He has since produced consecutive 1,000-yard rushing campaigns, accumulating 2,925 yards from scrimmage and 17 touchdowns in 34 games (29 starts) for the Jaguars.
