Massimiliano Allegri, the head coach of Juventus, expressed confidence in his team’s ability to accomplish their preseason objectives. Currently occupying the third position in Serie A, Juventus also hold a 2-0 lead as they approach the return leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final against Lazio on Tuesday night.
During a press conference, Allegri stated, “This year we started with two goals: to qualify for next year’s Champions League – we are currently third in the standings – and to win the Coppa Italia.” He emphasized the importance of maintaining a winning mentality, asserting that Juventus must always aim to go all the way in competitions.
Allegri, who returned for his second stint as Juventus boss in 2021, highlighted the team’s ambition to secure trophies. Under his previous tenure from 2014 to 2019, Juventus clinched five successive league titles, four Coppa Italia titles, and reached the Champions League final twice.
Looking ahead to the Coppa Italia clash with Lazio, Allegri acknowledged the challenge posed by their opponents, who appointed Igor Tudor as head coach in March. Despite holding a two-goal advantage from the first leg, Allegri emphasized the need for focus and determination.
He also mentioned monitoring Federico Chiesa’s fitness, following his full 90-minute performance in the recent draw against Cagliari.
On the other side, Lazio’s Tudor emphasized the importance of playing a flawless game to overturn the deficit, emphasizing the need to believe in their abilities and strive for perfection.
Both coaches recognize the significance of the upcoming match, with Juventus aiming to secure a spot in the Coppa Italia final and Lazio seeking to stage a comeback against the formidable Turin side.
