Giannis Antetokounmpo’s stellar performance guided the Milwaukee Bucks to a convincing 144-122 victory over the short-handed Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday in New York. Antetokounmpo, with 32 points, spearheaded a well-rounded effort as seven Bucks players reached double figures.
Antetokounmpo showcased his dominance inside, making 10 of 12 shots while also contributing 10 rebounds and eight assists. Khris Middleton, with a season-high 27 points, continued his strong form, shooting 11-for-18 and providing 10 assists. The Bucks, shooting at an impressive 58.4% from the floor, recorded a season-high 41 assists.
Cameron Payne (18 points) and Malik Beasley (17 points) bounced back from a scoreless game on Monday, each sinking five 3-pointers to help the Bucks tie a season-best with 23 treys. Other contributors included Bobby Portis (14 points), Damian Lillard (12 points), and MarJon Beauchamp (11 points).
The Nets, missing key players due to injuries and rest, struggled against the Bucks’ offensive onslaught. Rookie Jalen Wilson led Brooklyn with career-highs of 21 points and 10 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win. Trendon Watford (17 points) and Dennis Smith Jr. (14 points) made solid contributions for the Nets.
Despite a competitive first quarter with 12 lead changes, the Bucks seized control in the second half. Milwaukee’s 14-6 run at the end of the third quarter gave them an eight-point lead, setting the stage for a dominant fourth quarter.
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s dunk with just over three minutes remaining in the game effectively sealed the win for the Bucks, marking their eighth victory in nine games. The Nets, dealing with a slew of absences, lost for the sixth time in eight games.
