Germany took the lead in the 25th minute when defender Antonio Rudiger headed home from a corner delivered by Leroy Sane. Mexico responded 12 minutes later when Uriel Antuna converted Hirving Lozano’s cross, leveling the score. Shortly after halftime, Mexico took the lead when Erick Sanchez headed in a cross from Antuna.
However, Germany quickly equalized in the 51st minute. Niclas Fullkrug found the back of the net after a shot by Florian Wirtz was cleared off the line by Mexico’s goalkeeper, Guillermo Ochoa.
