Tennessee Titans’ quarterback Ryan Tannehill is eager to put the team’s Week 1 loss to the New Orleans Saints behind him, as he emphasized during a recent conversation with reporters.
When questioned about his sentiments regarding the disappointing loss to the Saints, Tannehill made his intentions clear—he’s looking forward and concentrating on the upcoming clash with the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 2.
“Guys, I just want to move on,” Tannehill expressed. “I’m not going to answer any more questions about what happened Sunday. I’m not happy about it. No one in this building’s happy about it, but at the end of the day, it’s over.”
Tannehill faced considerable challenges in the season opener, with a completion rate of just 16 passes out of 34 attempts, resulting in 198 passing yards. He also encountered difficulties with three interceptions and failed to record a single touchdown pass.
Following the game, Tannehill received constructive criticism from his head coach, Mike Vrabel, who stressed the need for improvement. Vrabel pointed out that the quarterback “has to be better” and highlighted the importance of making accurate throws to open receivers while avoiding risky attempts into double coverage.
As the Titans look ahead, it’s essential for Tannehill to regain his form and composure to lead the team effectively. Despite the challenges faced in Week 1, Tannehill remains the team’s primary signal-caller, with several options behind him in the event of continued struggles. Second-year quarterback Malik Willis demonstrated promise during the preseason but didn’t replicate that performance in the opener. Meanwhile, rookie Will Levis is poised to develop but may require time to adjust to the demands of the NFL.
With the focus firmly set on the Week 2 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, Tannehill and the Titans have an opportunity to rebound from their opening loss and build momentum as the season progresses.
