Star Quarterback Injured in First Drive with New Team
New York Jets’ head coach Robert Saleh has expressed deep concern over the injury sustained by quarterback Aaron Rodgers during Monday’s game against the Buffalo Bills. Rodgers, a high-profile addition to the Jets’ roster after 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers, suffered the injury during his very first drive with his new team.
The unfortunate incident occurred when Rodgers was sacked by Bills defensive end Leonard Floyd with 11:15 left in the first quarter. After initially attempting to rise to his feet, the 39-year-old quarterback was forced to sit back down on the turf. He was subsequently assisted off the field and received immediate attention from the team’s medical staff. Unfortunately, Rodgers did not return to the game and was taken to the locker room for further evaluation.
Following the game, Coach Saleh addressed reporters and conveyed his concerns, stating, “Concerned with his Achilles. An MRI is probably going to confirm what we think has happened, so prayers tonight. But it’s not good.”
Rodgers’ arrival at the Jets had generated immense excitement among fans, considering his illustrious career with the Packers, which included four league MVP awards and a Super Bowl title in 2011.
Coach Saleh also expressed his empathy for Rodgers, saying, “I hurt for Aaron and how much he has invested in all of this. I’m still going to hold out hope. But my heart’s with Aaron right now, nobody else.”
In Rodgers’ absence, Zach Wilson took over as the Jets’ quarterback and played a pivotal role in guiding the team to an overtime victory.
