New York, [Date] – Novak Djokovic, determined to maintain his quest for a historic fourth U.S. Open title, showcased his prowess on Sunday by cruising into the quarter-finals with a commanding 6-2, 7-5, 6-4 victory over Borna Gojo. The Serbian tennis legend, coming off a grueling five-set battle in the previous round, demonstrated his dominance at the year’s final Grand Slam.

Djokovic had faced a much tougher challenge on Friday, having to mount a comeback from a two-set deficit against Laslo Djere to preserve his hopes of securing a fourth U.S. Open title, which would equal Margaret Court’s record of 24 Grand Slam titles.

In his encounter with Gojo, the 36-year-old Serb seized control early by breaking his opponent’s serve to open the match, and he never looked back. Gojo managed only a solitary break chance throughout the match, and Djokovic’s superior play left him unthreatened.

Djokovic’s precision and consistency were on full display, as he committed just 12 unforced errors compared to Gojo’s 40. The 105th ranked Croat found himself under constant pressure, suffering five service breaks before Djokovic closed out the contest with his 12th ace.

Reflecting on the match, Djokovic commented, “I was watching him play qualifications, the last couple of rounds of the main draw, and saw that he’s a big shot player. Obviously, serve and forehand are big weapons, and he moves pretty well for a big guy. In a best-of-five sets, I try to manage my energy and focus on accuracy with my serve. I think I’ve done well in important moments and am just glad to get through in straight sets.”

Djokovic’s next challenge at the U.S. Open will be against top-ranked American and ninth seed Taylor Fritz, who secured his spot in the quarter-finals with a 7-6(2), 6-4, 6-4 victory over Swiss qualifier Dominic Stricker. Despite Fritz heading into the showdown as the only player yet to drop a set in the tournament, Djokovic remains confident, having won all seven of their previous career meetings.

“Obviously Taylor has been now an established top-10 player for the last couple of years,” Djokovic acknowledged. “He has been playing some terrific tennis, particularly on home soil on hardcourt tournaments. He has improved so much over the years, so the matches are only going to get tougher from now onwards, and I’m ready for the challenge. It’s going to be great.”
