The new women’s football competition will debut from May 21-23 in Estoril, Portugal, featuring elite teams and players in a fast-paced seven-a-side format. Eight clubs will compete for a $5 million prize pool in matches consisting of two 15-minute halves on half-sized pitches. The tournament will begin with a round-robin group stage, followed by semifinals and a final.

English football legend Anita Asante, an investor and advisor for W7F, expressed her excitement about the tournament’s unique format. “Our short-format, high-energy matches mean more action, entertainment, and goals. With DAZN as our partner, we can bring this thrilling new series to a global audience while also working together to forge new partnerships,” she said.

Jen Mackesy, W7F co-founder and minority owner of NWSL’s Gotham FC and WSL’s Chelsea FC, highlighted the importance of DAZN’s involvement. “Beyond DAZN’s massive reach, we are also excited to collaborate on sublicensing and marketing agreements to ensure World Sevens Football becomes a key property in advancing women’s football,” she said.

DAZN, which recently secured funding from the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), continues expanding its football portfolio. The company has also partnered with FIFA to distribute the 2025 Club World Cup.
