The future of volleyball in Spain is set for major growth as key representatives from the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) and the Real Federación Española de Voleibol (RFEVB) met to discuss strategic plans for the sport’s advancement.
The Spanish delegation included RFEVB President Felipe Pascual, Vice President Javer Garcia, and former Technical Director Luis Muchaga. They shared their enthusiasm for collaborating with the FIVB to enhance the development and visibility of volleyball in Spain.
Discussions covered various initiatives, with a focus on RFEVB’s new strategic vision and efforts to elevate the sport nationally and internationally. The FIVB delegation, led by President Fabio Azevedo, also introduced the FIVB Strategic Vision 2032 under the theme “Together as One.”
One of the key highlights was the review of the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment programme’s impact in Spain. The FIVB has invested CHF 324,000 in six projects, mainly aimed at providing coaching support to strengthen Spain’s national teams.
Both organizations also examined the success of recent volleyball events in Spain and explored opportunities for hosting future FIVB competitions.
Spain’s national women’s team was a point of celebration during the meeting, as they recently secured qualification for the 2025 Women’s Volleyball World Championship in Thailand. This achievement reflects the country’s ongoing efforts to strengthen volleyball at all levels.
