Patrick Mahomes is embracing the excitement of the playoffs while also celebrating the arrival of his third child. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback revealed on Tuesday that he was able to watch some of the wild-card games on Sunday as he awaited the birth of his daughter, Golden Raye. His wife, Brittany, gave birth to their second daughter, joining their family that includes 3-year-old Sterling and their 2-year-old son, nicknamed Bronze.
“Brittany crushed it,” Mahomes said, reflecting on the joy of welcoming another baby girl into their family. He noted how wonderful it was to witness his children’s reactions to their new sibling. “It’s been a lot of fun,” he added, expressing his appreciation for being able to watch football during their time in the hospital. The Chiefs had secured the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye, allowing Mahomes to focus on family rather than playoff preparations.
As the two-time NFL MVP gears up for the Chiefs’ divisional-round matchup against the Houston Texans, Mahomes emphasized the importance of creating lasting memories both on and off the field. The Chiefs are aiming to become the first team in history to win three consecutive Super Bowls. With the Texans coming off a decisive victory over the Chargers, Mahomes acknowledged the significance of each season and the memories forged with teammates and the community. “Every single year is special,” he said, recalling the various Super Bowl moments and the team’s resilience, particularly during their previous playoff encounters with Houston. Chiefs coach Andy Reid noted that the extended break has left the team healthier than ever as they prepare for their playoff opener.
