Coaches of the U11, U13, and U15 soccer teams from Tsakani Ext 13 are seeking sponsorships to help fund their tournaments and league games this year.

The coaches, Boy Mkhabela and Tisetso Mofokeng, hosted regular tournaments last year and hope to continue this tradition. Mofokeng expressed his passion for coaching, emphasizing the importance of keeping young players motivated.

“Coaching these kids means a lot,” said Mofokeng. “We can help pave the way for them to achieve their dreams. It’s not just about teaching soccer skills, but also keeping them away from bad influences, such as drugs and non-educational habits.”

Mofokeng also highlighted the soccer talent among the children, saying their goal is to encourage players to reach their full potential. However, he noted the need for sponsorship to support tournament and league expenses, as well as funding for team gear.

The fields they use also require maintenance, and the teams need new soccer goal nets and equipment. “Our players come from different backgrounds,” Mofokeng explained. “Some can afford new gear, but others can’t. We often have to rotate uniforms to make the players look uniform on the field.”

The coaches are asking for sponsors to provide soccer kits, including jerseys, socks, shorts, tops, soccer boots, balls, and cones.

Mkhabela, another coach, shared his love for coaching, focusing on developing players’ mental, physical, technical, and tactical skills. He also emphasized the value of teamwork and said it would make him proud to see some of his players go on to play professionally.

“Having sponsors will boost the players’ confidence and keep them motivated,” Mkhabela added.

He also encouraged the local community to support the soccer program by allowing their children to participate. “We have games every Saturday at the Ext 13 ground, and we urge parents to support their children,” he said. “Soccer legends could also help by providing skills support and educational talks.”

The coaches are hopeful that sponsorships and community support will help the youth soccer teams continue to thrive.
