Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma suffered a facial injury during a French league match against Monaco on Wednesday, leaving his face bloodied after being struck by an opponent’s cleat.
The incident occurred in the 17th minute at Stade Louis II when Wilfried Singo attempted to jump over the sliding Donnarumma after having his shot blocked, inadvertently hitting the goalkeeper in the face.
Images from the match revealed a cut below Donnarumma’s right eye. Singo, who had already received a warning earlier in the game, narrowly avoided a red card for the foul.
Donnarumma remained on the pitch for treatment before eventually standing up and walking off the field, where he was substituted by Matvey Safonov.
