Sir Susa Vim Perugia and Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza triumphed in intense five-set matches on Sunday, securing away victories in the 12th round of the Italian SuperLega Credem Banca.

SuperLega newcomers Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina also celebrated a historic win on Friday, claiming their first-ever SuperLega victory with a straight-set win over Mint Vero Volley Monza, the previous season’s silver medallists.

In Verona, Sir Susa Vim Perugia overcame Rana Verona 3-2 (25-19, 23-25, 25-20, 22-25, 15-7). Ukrainian star Oleh Plotnytskyi led the charge with six aces and a match-high 27 points, including four kill blocks. Tunisian opposite Wassim Ben Tara added 17 points, while Kamil Semeniuk finished with 10. Perugia’s 12th win of the season keeps them unbeaten at the top of the standings with 32 points, while Verona remains fifth with 22 points.

Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza also won 3-2 (25-21, 16-25, 20-25, 25-20, 15-6) at Valsa Group Modena. Austrian opposite Paul Buchegger was the top scorer for Modena with 22 points, while Alessandro Bovolenta led Piacenza with 16 points. Piacenza’s victory moves them to third place with 23 points, surpassing Modena, who remain eighth with 15 points.

Piacenza coach Andrea Anastasi praised his team’s performance, noting that while Modena played well in the first three sets, Bovolenta’s strong play in the final sets helped his team secure the win. Anastasi expressed confidence in his team’s improvement, citing the focus and desire shown in both training and matches.

On Friday, Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina made history by winning 3-0 (25-22, 26-24, 25-21) at Mint Vero Volley Monza. Led by Serbian opposite Dusan Petkovic, who scored a match-high 18 points, the newcomers achieved their first SuperLega win. Despite the result not affecting their positions in the standings, the victory narrowed the gap between the two teams. Grottazzolina remains at the bottom of the table with 5 points, while Monza sits in 11th place with 7 points.

In another match on Sunday, Allianz Milan defeated Gioiella Prisma Taranto 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-21). Belgian opposite Ferre Reggers scored a match-high 19 points, leading Milan to improve to 21 points and 7-5 in sixth place, while Taranto stays 10th with 10 points.

Two other matches were postponed due to the participation of Trentino and Lube in the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship in Brazil.

The 13th-leg matches will take place on December 21 and 22.
