Pablo stepped in as a starter on November 23, after regular starter Jonah Sabete was sidelined with a calf injury. Her return came at a crucial time following a tough loss to defending champions Creamline.

The two-time PVL MVP seized the opportunity and delivered standout performances in Petro Gazz’s next three victories, including important wins over PLDT and Cignal. This helped the Angels finish the year on a four-game winning streak.

In a 12-25, 25-14, 25-22, 25-20 win over Cignal last Tuesday, Pablo led the charge with 19 points, including 17 attacks and two blocks. She followed that up with another strong performance on Saturday, scoring 15 points in a 25-19, 25-21, 25-18 victory over HD Spikers.

Pablo’s impressive play earned her the PVL Press Corps Player of the Week award for December 10 to 14, helping Petro Gazz rise to the top spot with a 5-1 record.

The 31-year-old outside hitter credited her confidence to her teammates and coaches, who trusted her in a key role. She expressed her determination to make the most of the opportunity given to her.

“I gained confidence from myself, my teammates, and my coaches. Whatever role they gave me on the team, I had to work hard because I don’t always get the chance to play, so I had to do my best,” Pablo said.

She also acknowledged the support from Petro Gazz fans, which helped boost her confidence even more.

“The support from our fans and those who trust me means a lot and boosts my confidence,” she added.

Pablo, who edged out teammates and fellow PVL stars for the weekly award, is determined to keep up her strong play when the PVL resumes in January. She sees this as a way to repay the trust placed in her by her team and coaching staff.

“I finally got my confidence back this year. I told my setters to trust me on the court, and I’ll attack and do my best,” Pablo said.

Looking ahead, she is focused on helping Petro Gazz achieve its goal of winning the All-Filipino title.

“We’ve been together for many years, and our goal is to win this title,” she said, hopeful that 2024 will be the year they reach that goal.

Petro Gazz will return to action on January 21 against Chery Tiggo, where Pablo aims to continue her strong play and lead the Angels to the championship.
