Guardiola: I m Not Good Enough After Loss

Pep Guardiola expressed his frustration and declared himself “not good enough” following Manchester City’s disappointing 2-1 loss to Manchester United on Sunday, marking a new low for the season.

The four-time defending Premier League champions have now lost eight of their last 11 matches across all competitions, managing just one victory during that stretch. Currently, City sits fifth in the league, nine points behind leaders Liverpool, having played one game more.

“I’m the boss, I’m the manager and I’m not good enough. It’s as simple as that,” Guardiola stated after the match. “I’m not doing well. That is the truth.”

Despite his remarkable track record, which includes four consecutive Premier League titles and six in the last seven seasons, Guardiola is facing the toughest period of his coaching career. Over his time at Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and City, he has amassed 33 major trophies. Although he signed a two-year contract extension last month, it has not led to an improvement in his team’s performance.

In the match against United, City was leading 1-0 until the 88th minute but conceded two late goals to Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo, resulting in boos from the home crowd at the final whistle.

“I knew that it would be a tough season from the beginning. I’ve said that many times, even when we were winning, but I didn’t expect it to be this hard,” Guardiola reflected.
