Ryan Reynolds spread holiday cheer during his recent visit to north Wales, treating locals to an early Christmas gift and bringing along several Hollywood friends.
The co-owner of Wrexham AFC, alongside Rob McElhenney, attended the team’s match against Cambridge United on Saturday, where they played to a 2-2 draw. Joining Reynolds in the stands were actor and producer Channing Tatum, who starred in the latest “Deadpool” film with Reynolds, as well as Brandon Sklenar, who appeared alongside Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively, in the romantic drama “It Ends With Us.” Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong was also in attendance.
The night before the match, Reynolds visited a pub in Wrexham’s city center, announcing he would buy a round of drinks for everyone present. He humorously suggested that the pub might “buss in another hundred people” to take advantage of his generosity.
In a video shared on social media, Reynolds addressed the pub crowd via microphone, saying, “If I don’t come visit each and every one of you tonight in your homes, I just want to say happy holidays.” He noted he couldn’t stay long as he wanted to enjoy his “night off” from parenting.
Since acquiring the club in 2021, Reynolds and McElhenney have guided Wrexham’s ascent from the fifth tier of English football. The team has gained significant attention, particularly with the launch of their acclaimed documentary series, “Welcome to Wrexham.”
Following the draw with Cambridge, Wrexham sits third in League One, just two points off the top of the table.
