The New Orleans Pelicans will welcome back Brandon Ingram and Herb Jones for Thursday night’s matchup against the Phoenix Suns.
Jones, who has been a key defensive presence for the team, returns after missing 18 games due to a right shoulder strain. Pelicans head coach Willie Green emphasized Jones’s importance, stating, “He’s our defensive captain. Herb’s one of those guys — he just puts out fires when he’s on the floor.”
Ingram has been sidelined for the last five games with a right calf injury.
With their returns, the Pelicans will have five of their six most prominent players available, including guards Dejounte Murray and CJ McCollum, as well as forward Trey Murphy III, for the first time since October 29. However, star power forward Zion Williamson remains out indefinitely due to a left hamstring strain.
Despite the challenges, Green expressed optimism about having more front-line players available as the Pelicans (4-18) aim to climb out of the bottom of the Western Conference standings.
