The Charlotte Hornets will be without point guard LaMelo Ball for a minimum of two weeks due to a strained left calf.
Ball experienced discomfort in his calf following Wednesday night’s loss to the Miami Heat and did not participate in Friday’s game against the New York Knicks. The Hornets announced that he will be reevaluated on December 11, two weeks after the injury occurred.
In recent games, Ball has been a standout performer for the Hornets, averaging an impressive 40.3 points over his last four outings. For the season, he is posting a career-best 31.1 points and 4.7 three-pointers per game, ranking second in the NBA. Additionally, he averages 5.4 rebounds, 6.9 assists, and 1.1 steals across 18 starts this season.
Ball has struggled with injuries throughout his career, primarily affecting his ankles, since being selected as the No. 3 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. Despite being the only player in Hornets history to receive a maximum contract extension, he has appeared in just 202 games with 182 starts over five seasons.
