Omar Marmoush continued his impressive scoring streak, netting two goals as Eintracht Frankfurt secured a 4-0 victory over Heidenheim on Sunday. The win brings Frankfurt to within four points of Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich.
Marmoush opened the scoring midway through the first half, capitalizing on a pass from Nathaniel Brown and firing a first-time shot past Heidenheim goalkeeper Kevin Müller.
The second half saw substitute Farès Chaïbi extend the lead before Marmoush struck again in the 58th minute. After a powerful run from deep within Heidenheim’s half, he scored his 13th goal in just 12 league appearances.
Late in the match, Marmoush missed a chance for a hat-trick when Müller denied him in a one-on-one situation. Hugo Ekitiké capped off the rout in stoppage time, tapping in a cross from Ansgar Knauff.
With this result, Bayern Munich remains at the top of the league with 30 points, while Eintracht Frankfurt sits in second with 26 points. Heidenheim is currently 16th with 10 points.
In another match on Sunday, Mainz defeated Hoffenheim 2-0, thanks to two first-half goals from striker Jonathan Burkardt. His performance has earned him a spot on Germany’s national team this year. Burkardt opened the scoring by converting a low cross from Lee Jae-sung in the fourth minute and added a second goal from outside the penalty area in the 24th minute.
This match marked coach Christian Ilzer’s second game in charge of Hoffenheim, who now sits in 14th place. Meanwhile, Bayern drew 1-1 with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, with star striker Harry Kane leaving the match due to a hamstring injury.
