The South West Garo Hills District Badminton Association (SWGHDBA) successfully wrapped up its 3rd Badminton Tournament for 2024, held over the weekend at the Ampati Indoor Stadium. The event, which took place on Friday and Saturday, brought together talented players competing across various categories.
The two-day tournament featured intense competition, with 12 participants in the Men’s Singles Open category, 9 teams in the Men’s Doubles Open category, and 5 players in the Under-19 Boys Singles category.
At the closing ceremony, Deputy Superintendent of Police (HQ) for South West Garo Hills, Ravi K Sangma, served as the Chief Guest. He commended the athletes for their dedication and sportsmanship, before presenting awards to the winners and runners-up in each category.
In the Under-19 Boys Singles, Civilo Ch Momin emerged victorious, defeating Pattian Ch Momin. In the Men’s Singles Open, Khan T Sangma claimed the title by overcoming Civilo Ch Momin. The Men’s Doubles Open saw Eligious Sengbath G Momin and Civilo Ch Momin take home the top prize, defeating Khan T Sangma and Francis G Momin.
The tournament was praised for its successful organization and for fostering a strong sense of sportsmanship among the participants.
