NBA legend Reggie Miller recently shared his picks for the top seven players in WNBA history, forming a team he believes would be unbeatable.
Though the WNBA has been around only since 1996, it has already seen the rise of many legendary players. As the league continues to grow, fans often debate who the best of the best are. Reggie Miller, a Hall of Famer known for his sharpshooting, weighed in by naming the seven players who, in his opinion, would make up an all-time WNBA team that could not be defeated.
Miller’s All-Time WNBA Lineup
Miller, who enjoyed a celebrated career with the Indiana Pacers, knows talent when he sees it. Over the years, he’s watched many WNBA stars emerge and flourish. So, who did he choose for his dream team?
“If I were starting a women’s team, I believe this team would be undefeated,” Miller said on The Mark Jackson Show. “This is the greatest women’s team ever. In no particular order, but I’ll start with Cheryl [Miller], just because that’s my sister. Cheryl D, Candace Parker, Diana Taurasi, Maya Moore, Cynthia Cooper, and coming off the bench, Lisa Leslie. That team would be 500-0. Give me another six that’s beating my squad. And I’ll throw in a seventh person, Tamika Catchings. No one’s touching me. No one’s touching that squad.”
A Lineup Full of Legends
Miller’s team is undeniably stacked with talent. He included his sister, Cheryl Miller, a legendary player despite never having played in the WNBA, as it did not exist during her time. Cheryl starred at USC and represented Team USA in various tournaments.
Alongside Cheryl, Miller selected Candace Parker, Diana Taurasi, Maya Moore, Cynthia Cooper, Lisa Leslie, and Tamika Catchings. The accomplishments of this group speak for themselves, making it clear why Miller believes this team would dominate.
Fans, as always, were quick to mention some notable omissions, such as current WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and A’ja Wilson. Although they didn’t make Miller’s list, their ongoing careers could earn them a spot in the future.
Miller’s selections are hard to argue with, and his notion that this team would be unbeatable is well-founded. As the WNBA continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see if new stars emerge that could challenge his lineup.
